Sivan-Hoffmann R, Gory B, Armoiry X, et al. (2017) Stent-Retriever Thrombectomy for Acute Anterior Ischemic Stroke with Tandem Occlusion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Eur Radiol (2017) 27: 247-254with interest we read the manuscript “Stent-Retriever Thrombectomy for Acute Anterior Ischemic Stroke with Tandem Occlusion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” by Sivan-Hoffmann et. al, published in European Radiology. Therein, our Study “Emergency stenting of the extracranial internal carotid artery in combination with anterior circulation thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke: a retrospective multicenter study” was cited by the authors. Unfortunately they stated, that we included 47 patients, and did neither comment on our results nor include them in their discussion. We would like to point out, that our multi centric comparison incorporates data on 170 consecutive patients from 4 Centers and not 47, representing a major contribution which was neglected by the authors. We understand the importance of time in scientific publication processes but feel nevertheless disappointed when the largest contribution to the literature of acute stunting in ischemic stroke is not included for that specific reason; our study represents nearly half of all published cases.
We would welcome a correction of the size of our cohort, which is more than 3 times higher than cited.
On behalf of the authors, Anastasios Mpotsaris
